You need to be bilingual to work in the RGV, especially if you want to excel in your field by being able to communicate effectivley with a wide variety of people. DL students have an advantage over monolinguals in being more employable across a wide variety of fields. Outside of the RGV, students who graduate from DL programs are more likely to be hired and get paid higher salaries because they are able to speak, read, and write in two languages. DL prepares children to work in linguistically and cognitively flexible environments, where they can shine. DL students who choose to attend UTRGV and complete a Dual Language track can earn a seal of biliteracy, which further distinguishes them in terms of their marketable skills.
